3rd Version of Adingiri Theatre Festival Draws to an End

The Third Edition of the Adingiri Theatre Festival, also called the Adingiri Rashtriya Natyo Utsav hosted by Abhigyanam on the 6th and 7th of February. in the picturesque hillock of Shankardev Nagar near Adingiri in Maligaon.

This year’s Adingiri Rashtriya Natyo Utsav saw the the enacting of four main plays from different parts of India. Agarbatti by Samagam Rangmandal from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Padmapriya based on Devi Peethar Tez by Mamoni Roysom Goswami and enacted by BA ( A Cultural Organisation) , Guwahati. Xorobjan by Uttoron from Chamata, Nalbari. The best one was however the award winning play Prof. Kelfa’s Factory by the well known Mancha Sarupeta from Barpeta was the best acting.

The Adingiri Theatre Festival is hosted in a very eco friendly location overlooking the mighty Brahmaputra River and the revered Nilachal Hills, wherein the Kamakhya Temple is located. The event is hosted in completely natural and designed to cause least possible impact to the environment.

Even the main stage was created and decorated mainly with clay and bamboo. Even the sitting arrangement was curved on the soil or made out of locally available bamboo. Accommodation mainly consisted of a traditional tree-house and few tents.

The 3rd Adingiri Rasthtriya Natyo Utsav was the presence of nearly 500 visitors across the two days of the event. The organizers are hopeful to get more participants in the coming years and the concept of Theater Tourism booms in the state of Assam.
