The sacred Nilachal Hills in Guwahati are preparing to welcome thousands of devotees from across India and abroad as the revered Ambubachi Mela 2025 returns this month. Held at the Kamakhya Temple, one of the holiest Shakti Peethas in the country, the Ambubachi Mela is more than just a religious gathering—it is a powerful confluence of devotion, mysticism, and ancient traditions.
The Ambubachi Mela celebrates the annual menstruation cycle of Goddess Kamakhya, symbolizing fertility, creation, and the divine feminine. As per tradition, the temple doors will close at 8:00 PM on June 22 to mark the beginning of the Goddess’s period of rest. For three days, no worship or darshan is allowed. On the fourth day, the temple will reopen at 6:00 AM on June 26, allowing devotees to seek blessings during the sacred ‘Nivriti’.
What makes Ambubachi unique is its deep connection with Tantric practices, attracting spiritual seekers from across the country. The atmosphere transforms into a surreal realm of devotion and mysticism, filled with chants, rituals, and the powerful presence of faith.
The Assam government and temple authorities are taking extensive measures to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Facilities such as drinking water, sanitation, medical aid, crowd control, and accommodation have been upgraded to handle the lakhs of pilgrims expected this year.
As the faithful prepare to witness the Goddess’s awakening, the Ambubachi Mela 2025 once again stands as a testament to Assam’s spiritual legacy—where faith, tradition, and divine energy converge in an unforgettable celebration.
