Guwahati Police Issues Guidelines for Ambubachi Mahayog 2025

Guwahati, June 17: In view of the upcoming Ambubachi Mahayog 2025, Guwahati Police has issued a set of important guidelines to ensure the safety, smooth movement, and spiritual sanctity of the sacred event at the Kamakhya Temple, Nilachal Hills. Devotees, volunteers, officials, and citizens have been requested to cooperate with the authorities. And to adhere with the following instructions.

1. Restricted Entry Timings (June 22-25, 2025):

Devotees will be allowed entry into the Nilachal Hills only between 5:00 AM and 6:00 PM during this period due to expected heavy footfall and the risk of landslides. All visitors are advised to plan accordingly, as no exceptions will be made beyond the stipulated time.

2. Transport Arrangements:

Only ferry vehicles will be permitted to operate from the foothills to the temple, and that too exclusively for on-duty officials of essential services.

3. Health and Safety Advisory:

Owing to the massive gathering and unpredictable weather conditions, elderly persons and infants are strongly advised not to visit the temple during this time.

4. Pandu-Kamakhya Road Usage:

This road will remain closed for the general public and VIPs, and shall be used strictly for emergencies only.

5. No VIP Darshan during June 22-27, 2025):

There will be no special or VIP darshan facilitated on these dates. All devotees are requested to follow the standard process for darshan.

6. Maintaining Spiritual Ambience:

Given that Maa Kamakhya is believed to prefer silence during this sacred period, and the spiritual emphasis on meditation, loud music, noise, or cultural processions are strictly prohibited in and around the temple premises.

7. Darshan on Reopening Day (June 26, 2025):

The temple will reopen for darshan on June 26 morning. Devotees wishing to undertake darshan on that day must assemble at Bongshi Bagaan Ground, from where they will be guided by temple volunteers in an orderly queue.

8. Footwear Restriction:

No shoes or sandals will be allowed beyond the Kamakhya Gate/foothills area. Devotees are advised to make appropriate arrangements.

9. Traffic Advisory:

Specific traffic restrictions and diversions related to the festival will be notified separately by the Guwahati Traffic Police.

10. Emergency Assistance:

For any help or emergency, please dial 112.

Guwahati Police sought the cooperation and understanding of all devotees and citizens in ensuring that the Ambubachi Mahayog 2025 is conducted in a safe, peaceful, and spiritually fulfilling manner. Everyone have been requested to adhere strictly to the guidelines and respect the sacredness of the occasion.
