A Final Farewell: Zubeen Garg’s Roi Roi Binale Set for Unprecedented Nationwide Release

Guwahati, October 30, 2025 : In one of the most anticipated and emotionally charged film releases in Assamese history, Roi Roi Binale, the final masterpiece from the late cultural icon Zubeen Garg, is set to hit theaters across the nation tomorrow, October 31, 2025.

The release, coming just weeks after Garg’s untimely passing in September, has transcended from a simple movie premiere into a statewide cultural event. Advance bookings have seen a “ticket frenzy,” with most shows across Assam reportedly sold out through the first weekend.

Roi Roi Binale, a musical romantic drama written by and starring Zubeen Garg, was described by director Rajesh Bhuyan as the singer’s long-cherished dream project. In a move of solidarity and tribute, an estimated 80 cinema halls across Assam have canceled all other screenings to exclusively play the film, with some theaters beginning shows early to meet the staggering demand. A theater in Guwahati has announced the first show of this film at 4:25 AM, making it the first to present Roi Roi Binale to the eager crowds. Another theater in Lakhimpur has scheduled its first show at 4.30 AM while the first show in a theater in Dhemaji starts at 4.45 AM. Cinema halls across the state have added several additional shows to accommodate the massive demands.

The film, which also stars Mousumi Alifa, Joy Kashyap, and Achurjya Borpatra, is not just limited to the region. It is seeing a wide nationwide release in over 45 cities, bringing Zubeen Garg’s final work to audiences across India. Roi Roi Binale has also seen very high demands from theaters across the nation with shows going houseful in several cities.

Special context in Assam

State-wide measures and strong local demand have given the film particular prominence in Assam. Several reports indicate the release has generated high demand for tickets, and some outlets report that Assam will prioritize screenings of Roi Roi Binale on October 31 as a tribute to Zubeen Garg.

Separately, the Assam government has announced it will donate its share of GST collected from the film to the Kalaguru Artiste Foundation, underlining the cultural significance surrounding the release. This organization was founded by Zubeen Garg to support artists as well as social causes.
