Guwahati, December 15: Revered music icon Sonu Nigam’s Deewana Tera Tour opened in Guwahati to a spectacular audience turnout, marking his first-ever solo live concert in the city. Living up to what Sonu Nigam has stated prior to the performance, “Assam is different. Performing here means performing in front of knowledgeable and music-loving people”, the evening was one of the most memorable and soulful musical concerts that the region has witnessed in recent years. The energy of the audience, coupled with the emotional significance of the night, made the tour’s opening show an unforgettable beginning.
The concert featured an expansive set list, with Sonu Nigam performing some of his most cherished songs including “Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin,” “Kal Ho Naa Ho,” “Deewana Tera,” “Main Agar Kahoon,” “Suraj Hua Maddham,” and “Sandese Aate Hain.” Each track was met with roaring applause and full-house sing-alongs. The evening witnessed a soulful rendition of Mayabini, as the audience was immersed in emotion, fondly remembering their beloved heartthrob. He stated, “This tribute is not mine alone; it belongs to all of Assam.”
Reflecting on his long-standing friendship with Zubeen Garg, Sonu Nigam shared that they had been friends since 1997 and that many cherished memories connected him to Assam through Zubeen. He said that ever since he first met Zubeen in Assam, countless memories had become attached to him, adding that he still found it difficult to comprehend what had suddenly happened. He also acknowledged the immense love and affection that the people of Assam have always showered upon Zubeen Garg.
The Guwahati concert has set an inspiring tone for the rest of the tour, which will move next to Indore, Jaipur, and Lucknow, bringing audiences a specially curated experience featuring Sonu Nigam’s most loved songs.
