Renault donates five cars for Digital Literacy in India

Renault India has partnered with Common Service Centers e-Governance Services to support the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan Project. It is Government of India’s flagship program to provide digital literacy to the six crore rural citizens of the country. As a part of this partnership, Renault India handed over five cars to CSC e-Governance Services. These will be used to train people in rural and semi-urban areas across India and help them develop vocational and professional skills. They intends to cover more than 600 village panchayats across India in the coming year.

This partnership between Renault India and CSC Academy will empower the citizens of rural India by training them to operate computers and other digital devices like laptops and phones, browse internet, access government websites and online banking services and use digital payments. The Renault cars will be used in distributing information on learning courses and support the CSC teams to conduct training. These aim to impart financial and digital skills in the rural regions, enpowering them to actively participate in the process of transforming India into a digitally empowered society. Using these cars Village Level Entrepreneurs will also spread awareness on the Covid-19 appropriate behavior and protocols.

Previously Renault had partnered with CSC Grameen eStore, which is a subsidiary of CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. The aim was to increase rural presence and move closer to customers in remote locations. Renault India’s leading product range is listed on Grameen eStore and made available to potential customers in the rural areas.
