Indian Medical Association Issues Covid Advisory

The Indian Medical Association is the apex body of doctors in the country. And with the fear of another outbreak of the Coronavirus looming, they have issued a Covid advisory.

The following are the key points of the Covid advisory issued by the IMA.

  • Public should use face masks in all public places.
  • Social distancing is to be maintained at all times.
  • Hand washing with soap and water or use of sanitizers at regular intervals.
  • Public gatherings should be avoided. These include marriages, political or social meetings etc.
  • Avoid international travel unless necessary, specially to countries with increasing Covid infections.
  • Consult the doctor in case of any symptoms of Covid, including fever, sore throat, cough, loose motions etc.
  • Get your COVID vaccination including precautionary dose at the earliest.
  • Follow the latest government advisories.

The Union Health Minister and Prime Minister took part in two high level meeting on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. While all the state medical authorities have been told to send Covid positive samples for genome sequencing. This has been done to detect the number of BF.7 cases in the country. This is new variant of the virus which is causing a major outbreak in China.

Also the Indian Government has ordered random testing of travelers coming to the country from abroad at airports across the country.
