Assam Sets Multiple World Records through Bihu

Bihu is an essential part of Assamese life and culture. And now the state has set multiple world records for the same Bihu performance.

A total of 11304 Bihuas and Bihuwatis performed infront of a large audience in the Sarusajai stadium of Guwahati. Representatives from Guinness World Records were also present for the event. At the end of the performance, he mentioned that this was the best performance that he has seen. The boys and girls from all across the state came down to the city for this event. And this was the first record to be set as they performed for 15 minutes.

The second record to be set was the largest number of traditional musical instruments to be performed in an event. More than 3000 people played dhol, pepa, taal and gogona among others. This performance continued for over seven minutes to set the record. 

Thousands of people watched this event live at the ground. Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present for the performance along with several other dignitaries. He and minister Bimal Borah even tried some Bihu numbers during the event.

The Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks, Dr Unnat P. Pandit was also present. He handed over the certificate of GI Tag for Gamosa to the Chief Minister of Assam. He said that this is the first time that a GI certificate is being handed over on the same day as it was being displayed in record numbers.  

The organizers also carried out a fireworks show at the end of the performance. The Prime Minister will be visiting the state tomorrow. The 11000 plus performers will repeat the performance again tomorrow. And they will receive the certificates in the presence of the prime minister.
