The 12th version of the Chandubi Festival will be held from the 1st to the 5th of January 2022. And just like last year, this year’s version too will be a shorter five day event unlike the usual ten day celebrations of the pre-COVID -19 years.
Like the previous years, the organizers have already started to clean up the banks of the beautiful lake. Also work has began on setting up various parts of the celebration grounds. This festival aims to showcase the culture and traditions of the Rabha community who reside majorly in the state of Assam. Traditional cuisines and beverages, music and dance , costumes and equipment are also displayed in the Chandubi Festival.
All major structures used for this festival are made of eco friendly and completely bio degradable materials. Bamboo, wood and straw being the main construction materials used for all necessary structures. Right from the offices to the shops of the temporary market and the exhibition as well, all are made using locally available resources.
The flag hosting of the event is scheduled at 8 AM on the 1st of January while the formal opening is scheduled at 9 AM on the same day. While the closing campfire is scheduled at 2 PM of the 5th of January 2022.
