Center Extends Validity of Unlock 5 Guidelines Till November 30

Center on Tuesday announced that the Unlock 5 guidelines issued in September by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will remain in force till 30 November.

In the guidelines issued last month permitted reopening of cinema halls, swimming pools for sports training and gatherings with certain restrictions.

Activities involving large number of people including metro rail, shopping malls, hotel, restaurants, hospitality services, religious places, yoga and training institutes, gymnasiums, cinemas; entertainment park
have been allowed with some restrictions and subject to the Standard Operating Procedures. Decisions for reopening of schools and coaching institutes, state and private universities for research scholars will be taken by respective state/ UT governments.

Following activities have also been permitted by the government with certain restrictions.

  1. International air travel of passengers as permitted by MHA.
  2. Swimming pools being used for training of sportsperson.
  3. Exhibitions halls for Business to Business (B2B) purposes.
  4. Cinemas/ theaters/ multiplexes up to 50% of their seating capacity.
  5. Social / academic / sports / entertainment/cultural/religious/ political functions and other congregations, in closed spaces with a maximum of 50% of the hall capacity and subject to ceiling of 200 persons.

Further decision regarding the above activities will be taken based on the assessment of the situation under Unlock 5.

Strict containment measures will be enforced in the containment zones and only essential activities will be permitted to operate.

The earlier notification also urged states not to impose any local lockdown outside Containment Zones and shall not impose any local lockdown (State/ District/ sub-division/City/ village level), outside the containment zones, without prior consultation with the Central Government.
