Kashmir Plans to Host Tulip Festival to Promote Tourism

In a bid to promote tourism and acquaint the visitors to the valley’s rich culture and heritage, Kashmir will host a six-day Tulip Festival next month. The festival will be celebrating the arrival of spring shall be inaugurated on the first week of April.

Jammu and Kashmir also has the largest Tulip Garden of Asia. Namely the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, this park in Srinagar has the largest number and variety of tulip flowers in the country.

As per reports, the inauguration of the festival will be carried out by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. “All arrangements are in place for the festival and we are looking forward to it,” Deputy Director, Tourism and Publicity, Ideel Saleem told PTI.

The tulip festival will also hold several activities including cultural and musical shows by various local and national-level artists. About 25 stalls will be set up for display and promotion of the rich culture, traditions, crafts and even cuisines of the region. An exhibition of handicrafts and handloom products will also be organized during the festival.

Several pan-India promotional campaigns have been carried out to spread the word about the festival.

Reports suggest that the state tourism department is also planning a Houseboat Festival after the culmination of Ramazan.
