The International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies is an event to spread awareness about air pollution. With the increasing damage done to the environment everyday, this event has become a necessity.

This year is the third celebration of this event after its adaptation in December 19, 2029 in the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly. It aims to further the goals of the United Nations Environment Programme to protect nature. The theme for the year 2022 is The Air We Share. The aim is to create awareness and safeguards that supersede the political and geographical boundaries. Different organisations conducted tree plantations in different locations to reach the goal.

Guwahati’s LGBI Airport also celebrated the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies today. A tree plantation program was organized as a part of this event. Several dignitaries were part of this this event including the CAO of the LGBI airport. Dr. Shantanu Kumar Dutta, Member- Secretary of PCBA, Dr. S. Gokhale , IIT Professor and Nodal Faculty of NCAP Assam, Meghali Nidhi Dahal ,GMC Commissioner, Dr K.G. Bhattacharya, Retd. professor GU & Renowned Environmentalist, Ashim Sakia, Mayor in Council on sanitation, Public Health& Environment Division of GMC and Manjoy Sakia , ACES & Nodal officer, NCAP, PCBA were also present.
