Music of award-winning Assamese film Jiya released 

Guwahati: The music of the award-winning Assamese feature film Jiya was released on Thursday, March 28. Several dignitaries attended the event, highlighting the popularity of the film. Director Kenny Basumatary, producer Sarmistha Chakravorty, Singer J P Das, Musician Ambar Das and Event Organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta attended the event at the Guwahati Press Club

The soundtrack boasts a rich blend of emotions and melodies. Thus offering a glimpse into the soul of the film. The tracks “Xopun Xopun Loga,” featuring the mesmerizing vocals of Angarag Papon Mahanta and Sarmistha Chakravorty, and “Ei xadhu,” a composition sung by Shankuraj Konwar and Sarmistha Chakravorty have already been well acclaimed. 

Other tracks include “Nuphuta Junak,” by Maitrayee Patar, and “Kothabur Jodi Hool Hoy,” by Eepsita Hazarika and Sarmistha Chakravorty. “Udong Bukut,” featuring the enchanting vocals of Sarmistha Chakravorty also entralls the listeners. The songs are now available on music streaming platforms including YouTube and Spotify.

The lyrics and composition of “Xopun Xopun Loga” are by Sarmistha Chakravorty. Other credits include Bhaskarjyoti Kalita on flute and Hridoy Baba on tabla. The lyrics of “Ei Xadhu” are by Raj Dweep while Navanita Sharma and Ambar Das provided backing vocals. “Nuphuta Junak” flute track is by Bhaskarjyoti Kalita while the lyrics is written by Maitrayee Patar. The lyrics of “Kothabur Jodi Hool Hoy” are by Chandana Pathak while that of “Udong Bukut” is by Thengal Jyoti Swapna and was composed by Anshuman Barua.

Release Date

The film will be released in theatres across the state on May 17 and promises to take the audience on an unforgettable journey. Everyone associated with the film invited the public to watch the film on the big screen. 

Jiya has been directed by Kenny Basumatary and produced by Sarmistha Chakravorty. The film secured four prestigious awards, including the Best Film title at the Prag Cine Awards. Its music also won the Best Singer Male (Angarag Papon Mahanta) and Best Background Score (Ambar Das).
