2-day Food and Music Festival begins ahead of the Hornbill Festival

Kohima: Ahead of the popular Hornbill Festival in the state of Nagaland, a two-day food and music festival was flagged off in Kisama on Friday, November 24. The event was inaugurated by the chief minister of the state, Neiphiu Rio. 

The preparations for the Hornbill Festival are on at full speed at the festival grounds in Kisama. A week ahead of the main celebrations, the organisers have initiated a 2-day prelude to the Hornbill Festival. And this 2-day Food and Music Festival will go on till November 25 at Imagiland in Kisama. The 10-day-long Hornbill Festival kicks off on December 1 and goes on till December 10. The tourism department of the Government of Nagaland organised the Hornbill Festival in the state. 

This prelude includes multiple attractions for the public. These include music concerts, food stalls, art installations etc. A kids’ carnival and a book corner are also part of this prelude. 

A meeting was also organised to discuss the preparations for the event. Officials from the line/ sectoral departments met at the Bamboo Heritage Hall in Kisama. Neiphiu Rio also expressed his happiness regarding the preparations for the Festival of Festivals. He announced that guests would be coming down from multiple countries to attend the event and called on the participants to present the best of the Naga culture and heritage.. 

Ordering all concerned officials to discharge their duties to the mark, he also highlighted the importance of cleanliness. He also asked everyone to ensure that everyone to ensure that the tourists take back only fond memories of the celebration. 

He also acknowledged the growth of the festival over the years and the continuous growth in footfall. And highlighted that the 25th edition of the festival will be organised in 2024. 

Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along also attended the event. He appreciated the efforts of the people who envisioned this mega-celebration in the past. And called that it was essential to bring all the tribes together and showcase the rich heritage and traditions. He also mentioned that this was an excellent opportunity for the local entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products. 

Chief Secretary J Alam also attended it event and applauded the efforts of everyone including the officers and the participants. And added that with the participation of all tribes, the festival would be celebrated in a grand manner. He also assured that all the concerned departments are working hard to the best of their ability.
