First Ever Orang Festival in February 2023

The upcoming Orang Festival is an attempt to bring in more tourists to the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve and the nearby regions. More than 200 prominent personalities from the neighboring region took part in a meeting to discuss the event.

The first ever Orang Festival is scheduled to take place in the first week of February 2023. And Silbori Sports Association is the main organizer of this event. Local products including art and crafts, hand loom and handicraft and ethnic food and beverages will be showcased and sold. The event will also showcase indigenous and traditional music and culture. It will also include exhibitions, photography, angling and night sky viewing.

Pradipta Barua, DFO Mangaldai Wildlife Division, Mano Ranjan Gogoi, OC of Dalgaon PS, Professor Homen Barua of Orang College, wildlife activist Kamal Azad and Dibya Jyoti Deuri, range officer of ONPTR were some of the people who attended this meeting. Musabirul Hoque, the president of Silbori Sports Association presided over this meeting.

A organizing committee was also formed for the event. Bhargab Kumar Das was elected president, Faruk Ahmed as working president and Kamal Azad and Musabirul Hoque as joint secretaries. Ashok Singhal and Dilip Saikia were nominated as the chief patrons of the event. DC Pranab Kumar Sarma and SP Prasanta Saikia will be the chief advisors. Several other members of the executive committee were also selected in the same meeting.

The organizers also requested for support and encouragement from the local people to make the first Orang Festival a grand success.
