Northeast Festival to be held in Guwahati instead of Delhi

Northeast Festival 2022 will be hosted in Guwahati instead of New Delhi like the previous versions. This decision was taken after the Delhi government issued a new list of standard operating procedures in the wake of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country.

The event was postponed for almost a month and will now be organised on the 7th, 8th and 9th of January 2022. And the location for the same will be the Khanapara Veterinary Ground in Guwahati. Entry will be free for the event but only the people with both doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be allowed. Masks and social distancing will also be compulsory.

The Northeast Festival aims to showcase the traditions and culture of all the states of Northeast India. It aims provide a common platform to attract as well as educate people about the habits and customs of the region. Everything from the traditional attires to culinary habits, from music to literature are showcased in the Northeast Festival.

The original dates of the festival was announced as 10th, 11th and 12th of December 2021. And the venue was the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. But the latest order prohibited all social, political, sports, religious, entertainment, cultural or festival related gatherings in National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Update : The venue was later changed to Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati.
