Tourism Minister takes part in Workshop in Guwahati Airport

The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport organized a workshop. The theme was “role of airports in the process of developing tourism industry in Northeast India”. Assam tourism minister Jayanta Malla Baruah inaugurated this workshop. Maninder Singh, Additional Chief Secretary and Ravi Shankar Prasad, Secretary to Industry and Tourism Departments also attended the event. Deputy CEO of Adani Airport Holding Limited, Sher Khan was also present for the meeting. 

Speaking on the occasion, Jayanta Malla Baruah highlighted the importance of connectivity. He also mentioned that the state is working hard to improve connectivity in the state. These include the increase in the speeds of land-based and water-based communications. He also talked about the projects undertaken by the government towards tourism promotion. He added that Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has a strong vision regarding the tourism sector. And that the airport will eventually play a key role in the tourism promotion of the region. 

Representatives of the India Tourism and Airports Authority of India also attended this event. Officials from multiple airlines, hotel and restaurant associations took part in this workshop. Representatives of the tourism departments of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya were also present. 

The Deputy CEO of Adani Airports presented key airport data to the attendees. He mentioned that the airport has a huge potential for growth. The official also presented how they plan to add connectivity to domestic as well as foreign destinations. Sher Khan also presented how the airport can help in the overall development of the entire region. 

CAO Utpal Baruah added that Guwahati Airport will become the regional hub. And to provide direct connectivity to all important Indian cities. With the possibility to return home directly within 24 hours. He also said that flights to some international destinations will be cheaper from Guwahati because of its location.
