2nd North East Olympic Games Draws to an End

The 2nd North East Olympic Games came to end yesterday with a colorful celebration in Meghalaya. The Chief Minister of Meghalaya was present for the closing event along with several other dignitaries.

Conrad Sangma expressed his happiness and gratitude on the successful completion of this mega sporting extravaganza. He also congratulated all the players and teams who took part in any of the disciplines in Shillong. The CM also informed everyone about the readiness of the state in hosting major sporting events.

The final results of all the competitions were also declared. The medals tally was dominated by Manipur, the sports hub of Northeast India. They got a total of 233 medals out of which 85 gold medals, 73 silver medals and 75 bronze medals. Assam came second on the tally with 79 golds, 61 silvers and 61 bronzes. Arunachal Pradesh came third with a total of 38 golds, 35 silvers and 36 bronzes. Host state Meghalaya came forth in the tally with a total of 146 medals. Sikkim came at the last of the list with a total of 50 medals in the 2nd North East Olympic Games.

These sporting events organised across the region align with the idea of making the entire Northeastern zone excel in the sporting arena.
