Dry Days announced in Guwahati ahead of Municipal Elections

Multiple dry days have been declared ahead of the upcoming ward elections in Guwahati. With both voting and counting days in consideration, alcohol sales will be closed for a total of three days.

All kinds of alcohol sales are stopped from the 20th to the 22nd of April to prevent any malpractice. The time limit is going to be 4:00 PM of both the days. No bonded warehouses,wine shops, bars, resorts or hotels will be allowed to sell alcohol during this period. Storage of liquor by individuals without proper authority is also stopped during this period and the bans will be strictly implemented. Unlicensed premises are also not to be used for storage during this time period. The same order will also remain valid on the date of counting to prevent any possible untoward event. Sales can resume once the counting is completed. These dry days also covers any form of country liquor or any other intoxicating substance as well. Steps will be taken to prevent any such sales in the nearby regions as well.

Municipal elections will be held for 60 wards in the city. Voting will be done in a single day, that is the 22nd of April. The counting of votes for the same will be done on the 24th of April.
