In a partial modification of the previous order numbered HLA.301.2020.120 which declared the closing time of restaurants to be 9 PM during the days of Durga Puja, the Assam Government has allowed operations till 10.30 PM. So Eateries across the state can now remain open till 10.30 PM on the days of Durga Puja.
The information comes as an order from the Governor of Assam with the notification numbered HLA. 301.2020.125 issued on the 22nd of October 2020.
In a previous meeting between the members of the All Assam Restaurant Association and the District Administration during the earlier part of the day, a request was forwarded to the competent authorities to extend the service timing.
This order to stay open till 10.30 PM comes as a great relief to the restaurant owners of the city who have been waiting very eagerly for the Durga Puja season to see some growth in the sales.
The food and hospitality industry is one of the worst effected alongside the tourism sectors by the Covid-19 global pandemic. And it has slowly started to recover in this festive season.
