The blood donation camp was organised by the Pharmacy department of the university. It was a part of the ongoing Pharmacy week being organised in the university with several other activities.

The event was coordinated by the Human Helping Hands group under Venkat Rao. It is one of the most popular organisations in terms of blood donors and blood requirement in the city. The same organisation had undertaken another camp to mark the 125th birthday of Subhas Chandra Bose with the Blood Bank of Gauhati Medical College.

The Blood Bank authorities of the Gauhati Medical College Hospital conducted this event as well. Talking about the event, the doctor in-charge of the blood donation camp, Dr Karishma Kalita expressed happiness on being a part of the event. She mentioned that more and more people should be taking up blood donations. And that more awareness is necessary in this field.

The requirement of blood is the country is way more than available supply. Although several people were willing to take part in the donations, only ten people were medically qualified to do so. The medical staff and volunteers were also felicitated by the college authorities during the event.
