Adventure Sports Training Program comes to an end

A eight day adventure sports training camp was organised in the Dima Hasao district from the 20th of March to the 27th of March 2022. A total of seventy one trainees from all the districts of Assam participated in the program.

At the end of this camp, all the participants were given certificates. The best performers of this training program were also awarded in the ending ceremony. The closing ceremony was attended by the Chief Executive Member of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Debolal Gorlosa, Member of Autonomous Council of Diyungbra, Nobojit Hojai and Ajit Kumar Kalita retired senior Mountaineering Instructor, Department of Sports & Youth Welfare, Government of Assam.

An adventure sports training program of this kind was being organized for the first time in the state of Assam by the Assam Mountaineering and Adventure Institute with the support of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam. A total of 71 youths including both male and female participants from different parts of the state along with nine well trained instructors including two from Dima Hasao district itself participated in this program.The eight days program includes trekking to Mt. Tumjang, the highest peak of Assam in Borail mountain range, rope activity, camping in Panimur, white water river rafting practice, tree planting, cleanliness drive and many more activities.

Adventure Sports have tremendous possibility in the Northeastern states of India, specially Assam. It has a variety of landscapes ranging from plains to hills and forests to rivers. These diverse landscapes make it one of the perfect regions for almost all adventure activities.
