Indian made Dornier 228 takes flight from Dibrugarh to Pasighat

A Dornier 228 plane under the banner of Alliance Air took flight from the Dirbrugarh airport in Assam and landed in the Pasighat airport in Arunachal Pradesh. Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation was present for the event. Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Law and Justice and Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu were also present. This comes under the Udan project of the country.

The Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik scheme was started by the government of India. The key idea of this scheme is to create new airports, specially in the far flung areas of the region. And by adding new services and routes, make air travel more affordable for the citizens of the country. And the same has been done in this case by using a locally made aircraft to travel short distances.

The Dornier 228 is a short landing and take off aircraft powered by two turboprop engines. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has a manufacturing licence for a lot of these planes. And one of these planes was used in this inaugural flight. This was also the first flight from Dibrugarh to Pasighat airport. This is a part of the aim to create better connectivity in the Northeastern Region of India. This route will be connected to Ziro and Tezu soon. Mechuka, Tuting and Bijoynagar will also be added soon to the aviation map.
