IRCTC to Restore Cooked Meal Services in Trains

The Indian Railway Catering and Ticketing Corporation has decided to restore the cooked meal services in Indian Railways.

Indian Railways is one of the biggest networks in the world. Booking tickets and maintaining reservations for such a huge number of takers is a major challenge in itself. And hence a dedicated organisation was created. The Indian Railway Catering and Ticketing Corporation is the organisation responsible for supplying food and maintaining its quality. Meaning that the organization handles thousands of ticket and food packages for the customers on a daily basis.

The COVID-19 global pandemic had caused the Indian Railways to stop serving food onboard the trains. The order was passed on the 22nd March 2020 to stop food services in order to prevent any further infections. Even train services were halted temporarily.

Since the number of vaccinated people in India have increased drastically in the recent time, IRCTC has started to restore the ready to eat meal services on trains. The process of restoration of services was started towards the end of November last year. And everything will be back to the previous state by mid February 2022.
