Meghalaya to Reopen for Tourists Outside the State

The Meghalaya government has finally decided to reopen the state for tourism activities for tourists outside the state from 21st December 2020. The announcement was made by the state Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on twitter.

The SOPs for the tourists are as follows-

  • The tourists will have to download the Meghalaya Tourism App and register themselves to issue the E-invite or contact a registered store operator who can register on their behalf. The service of registered tour operators can be found on the Meghalaya tourism app and website.
  • After registering, the tourists will have to upload their photo ID on the app.
  • The tourists will also require to provide their complete itinerary for the visit for the visit and show a confirmed booking (hotel/guest house/home stay) for atleast the first two nights.
  • If the tourist is staying as a guest of any family or friend in the state, then the he/she shall declare the full address and contact details of the family or friend and the complete itinerary, for the e-invite to be generated.
  • Once a tourists completes the above, the tourist will receive an e-invite that should be presented at the entry check point along with a covod-19 negative certificate
  • For any queries, tourists can send a Whatsapp or Text message at 8132011037 between 10am to 8pm on working days.

Earlier in October, the Meghalaya government permitted the tourist spots in the states to reopen only for local tourists.
