Mizoram’s Anthurium Festival to be Organised both Online and Offline

The Anthurium Festival is organised annually in the state of Mizoram to showcase their heritage and traditions as well as to attract more and more tourists to the state. This year’s version of the festival will be organised on a hybrid model.

The booming season of the beautiful and colorful Anthurium flowers in the Northeastern state of Mizoram is celebrated as a festival. Started in the year 2006, this is also one of the most important events organised by the tourism department of the state to attract more domestic tourists.

Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, last year’s version was held as an only online event. But since this the infection rates are very much under control, as well as vaccines have become more and more available, the state government has decided to host the event in a hybrid model, that is there will be both online and offline parts of the event.

This year’s Anthurium Festival is planned to be a two day event. Cultural shows, Flower shows, documentaries etc are expected to be a part of this two day affair. All events are aimed to showcase the rich traditions of the Mizo people as well to highlight the natural beauty. It also aims to promote the flower growers of the state.

Even the Hornbill Festival will happen physically in 2021 while another popular event, The Ziro Festival of Music has been postponed.
