Centre Recommends Chaywanprash for Post-Recovery Period

Ministry of AYUSH has suggested intake of Chaywanprash as a measure that can be followed by recovered patients of Covid-19. The suggestion was included in the Post-Covid guidelines issued by the centre to be followed by patients after recovery from the virus.

The Ministry recommended use of Chaywanprash in the morning (1 teaspoon) with lukewarm water or milk under the direction of registered Ayurveda Physician. Chaywanprash is believed to be effective in post-recovery period as stated by the Ministry.

“As of now there is limited evidence of post-covid sequale and further research is required and is being actively pursued. A holistic approach is required for follow up care and well-being of all post-covid recovering patients, the statement read.

Along with Chaywanprash, the Centre also suggested consumption of a balanced diet with easy to digest and freshly cooked soft food. Warm milk with half a teaspoon of turmeric has also been suggested by the ministry.

Even after recovery, some patients may experience wide variety of signs and symptoms including fatigue, body ache, cough, sore throat, difficulty in breathing etc. As it is a relatively new disease with new information being churned out, it is essential that certain post-covid protocols and measures are being followed.
