Sikkim Temi Tea reached the ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’

Sikkim’s organic Temi tea found mention in the popular American show ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Comedian and host of the show Stephen Colbert was all in praises for the refreshing black tea from the Himalayan state of Sikkim.

He took quite a few sips to acquaint himself with the aroma and unique flavor of the black tea.

“Today’s tea is Temi summer Muscatel black from Sikkim, India. This refreshing black tea is from one of the valued tea regions in India. Soft floral notes greet the palate and gradually subside to a delectable bite of tart fruity flavour. Soft but forward, they are not hiding their floral notes“, he said reading out the description.

Backed by the government, the cultivation of the tea began back in the 1960s in a bid to generate employment. The temi tea garden is the only tea garden in the state and is considered to be the best across the world for this particular type.

The tea has a golden hue accompanied by a light floral finish which gives out a sweet taste. It is grown at elevations ranging from 1400 to 2000 metres above sea level. Cultivated at the time when the mist falls in the mountains, every season at the Temi Tea Estate creates every flush differently.
