Kamakhya Temple to Reopen for Devotees

The Kamrup Metropolitan District along with Police Authority & Kamakhya Temple Management Authority have decided to open the Kamakhya Temple for the devotees w.e.f 24th September or after the completion of the arrangements decided which ever comes earlier.


The following decisions have been taken in this regard.

  • On receiving the online applications, the authorities will insist on medical certificate showing covid- negative result issued during last three 3 days.
  • For payment of operators and the online system, they can charge a minimum amount from the devotees if they desire so.
  • On the basis of urgency, District Administration & Kamakhya Temple Management Committee will issue additional passes to some other persons including VIPs and Police Authority will accept the passes so issued.

  • A medical team will be arranged for the devotees and other persons at the entry point at Kamakhya Nursery to test the devotees. However devotees who can furnish test result that has been carried out during the last three days will not be tested at the entry point.
  • There will be a holding area at the temple premises and devotees will be allowed to enter the main temple in small batches.
  • The temple authorities will arrange sanitization of the holding area regularly.
  • The facilities of thermal scanning and hand sanitization will be provided at the holding area.
  • The shop keepers from whom the Puja materials will be purchased will keep their hands sanitized frequently.
  • Vehicles taken by the devotees will be allowed to travel upto the parking place near the temple. Commercial vehicles will be regulated by police authorities as per requirements.

  • No home stays will be allowed in and around the temple premises for the time being.
  • The entire arrangement will be in place till Covid-19 containment process initiated by state govt is continued.
  • Maximum 500 devotees will be allowed per day to enter into the temple complex for Parikrama.
  • The temple management committee will arrange online passes for the devotees on the basis of applications. Persons with more than 65 years and below 10 years will not be allowed to visit the temple.
  • The temple authorities will arrange the system for the receipt of online applications and issue of online passes to the devotees.
  • The online passes will be issued on slot basis to control gathering at the temple premises.
