Rongali Flags off in Guwahati for the 7th Time

Rongali, one of the most popular socio-cultural festivals of the region began on April 20. To be hosted over a four-day duration this year, it will see the presence of several performers.

Rongali 2023 will go on in the Veterinary College Ground of Khanapara. It will continue from Thursday till Sunday. The chief organizer of the event mentioned that this event is aimed to showcase the tribal communities of the state and the entire Northeast Indian Region. He added that it will highlight tourism destinations, art forms, fashion, food and music from the region. 

The event is expected to be a showcase of the colorful culture of the Northeastern region. Several presentations including those from the Mising, Dimasa, Karbi and Bodo communities will be showcased during the event. It will also include a Bihu Husori competition. Some of the popular names of the region are expected to perform at this festival. Some of them are Zubeen Garg, Taba Chake and About Us.

Rongali 2023 will also aim to showcase the traditional cuisines from the region. It will focus on the tribal cuisines from the northeastern states. With vegetarian food, non-vegetarian food and desserts on display, this is expected to be a haven for all food lovers. 

The organisers have also tried to showcase and promote the local producers of the state. A large exhibition comprising around 200 stalls for MSME products is also part of the event. These will include agri and horti products, food processing, cane and bamboo, handloom and handicrafts and industries and startup products. 

Some noted entrepreneurs of the region will also be felicitated during this event. They are Abu Metha, Jayanta Baruah, Ranjit Barthakur and Sanjive Narain. Zubeen Garg is the brand ambassador for the event.
