Tawang Marathon to be organised from October 1

The Tawang Marathon will be taking place in the month of October. It will be a display of exceptional physical power at high-altitude locations and is expected to bring in participants from across the globe. Arunachal Pradesh government and the Indian Army will organise this event.
Pema Khandu, the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh and the GoC 5 MTN Division Maj Gen AK Singh were present. Deputy Commissioner KN Damo, the Superintendent of Police B Kamdok and MLA Tsering Tashis also attended the event. The Eastern Command of the Indian Army will help in the conduction of the Tawang Marathon.
The Tawang Marathon is expected to showcase sportsmanship and both mental and physical strength. It is also an attempt to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle. It is a part of the Arunachal Pradesh government’s initiative to make the state a sports powerhouse. The event will be conducted under the Vibrant Village Programme of the state government.
The chief minister announced that the marathon will have a total of five categories. He also revealed the official t-shirts and medals for the event. Pema Khandu also formally opened the registrations for the event. He registered himself as the first participant in the event. Interested candidates will be able to register for the event via this link.
Runners can choose among one of the following options. Marathon (42.195 KM), Half Marathon (21.0975 KM), 10 KM race and 5 KM race are the options. Participants will be running through beautiful landscapes. The route will also pass through the pristine nature of Tawang. This event is also expected to put Tawang on the international sporting calendar. It will also boost the tourism footfall in the region and the entire Northeastern part of India.
