Oranges from Arunachal Pradesh Sold in Dubai

Oranges from the Northeastern State of Arunachal Pradesh are now being sold in Dubai. The consignment was mentioned to have 6 MT of local oranges sourced from the Lower Dibang Valley district. It was flagged off from the state on the 26th of November and was on sale from the 1st of December.

The Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) sourced the fruits. The sale part is being managed by the Lulu Group which has supermarkets across UAE. The same group had previously sold fruits and vegetables sourced from other northeastern states. Okit Palling, the Chief Executive Officer of the Agriculture Marketing Board of Arunachal Pradesh announced this on Twitter.

Oranges from the Dambuk region are well known for its taste. So much so that the state hosts the Dambuk Orange Festival every year to promote the local produce. This year’s event is dated to be held from the 15th to the 18th of December.

The Chief Executive Officer also mentioned that a second consignment has already been confirmed for export. This lot will contain at total of 16 MT of the local produce from Arunachal Pradesh and will be exported within this month.

Recently Meghalaya also exported a consignment of GI tagged Khasi Mandarins to be sold in Dubai.
