Traffic restrictions in Guwahati ahead of President’s visit

Several traffic restrictions will be in place at the time the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind visit to Assam. As per the reports, he will be visiting the Kaziranga National Park apart from the city of Guwahati. These are some of the restrictions issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic department of Assam police. Diversions on the movement of vehicular traffic in connection with visit of the on 25th and 26th February, 2022.

The following orders will be in place at Guwahati City on 25th and 26th February, 2022 for the smooth traffic management.

  1. No commercial carrier of four or more wheel vehicles will be allowed to move on the NH-27 and the NH-17 sections falling under Guwahati Metropolitan City. This will be in effect from 6.00 AM to 10 PM on February 25 and from 5 AM to 12.30 PM on February 26.
  2. No commercial goods carrying vehicles will move on AT road, MG Road, F.C Road, Taybullah Road, GNB Road, B.Baruah Road, G.S. Road and Panjabari road from 7.00 AM to 9 PM on 25 February.
  3. ASTC undertaking buses coming from Lower Assam side to Machkhowa and Paltan bazar stands will not be allowed to enter the city from Jalukbari on 25 February and shall be diverted towards ISBT.
  4. Pilgrims are advised to use the newly constructed road from Pandu temple ghat to visit the Kamakhya temple instead of the main Kamakhya Temple road from 6.30 AM to 2 PM on the 25th of February.
  5. Additional restrictions will be in place on the following roads at the given timings except for emergency travel. Citizens are requested to make movement plans accordingly.
    • From Airport to Kamakhya Gate – From 11.20 AM to 12.15 PM.
    • From Kamakhya gate to Koinadhora via M.G Road, B. Baruah Road, G.S. Road – From 12.30 AM to 1.40 PM.
    • Khanapara to Sixmile on G.S. Road and Panjabari Road From 5 PM to 6.45 PM.
