Meghalaya Tourism issues new SOPs

As the COVID situation has improved considerably in the last month given the lockdown measures and vaccination levels. In view of the same development, Meghalaya Tourism has issued its new set of SOPs.

These new SOPs are in accordance with the previous order issued by the Home (Political) Department of the state of Meghalaya. It was regarding the preventive measures in place in contain any spread of Covid-19. These Standard Operating Procedures will be coming to effect immediately till any further order. These order has been issued by the Commissioner and Secretary, Tourism Department, Government of Meghalaya.

Conditions for entry into the State

  • Everyone coming to the State of Meghalaya with both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine will not be required to undergo compulsory RTCPR test at the Covid screening centers at the entry points.
  • All people without complete vaccination will have to produce an RTCPR/ TruNat/ CBNAAT negative report valid 72 hours prior to their arrival at the Covid screening center at the entry point of the state . Otherwise they will have to undergo mandatory RTCPR test at the entry point. Children below 15 years of age do not have to produce RTCPR negative test or undergo testing at the Covid screening center unless they are found to be symptomatic.
  • Everyone must follow Covid appropriate behavior. These including wearing of masks in public places, maintaining social distancing, hand sanitizing, etc.

Advisory Tourist Amenites in the state

These regulations are for the hotels, home stays, guest houses, restaurants, cafes, tourist spots, tourist taxis and any other service necessary for the travelers to the state.

  1. To ensure safety of all tourism stakeholders of Meghalaya and tourists visiting the state, all the staff are advised to be fully vaccinated.
  2. Only fully vaccinated people to be allowed to enter the restaurants, cinema halls, bars, clubs and other public places.
  3. Hotels, home stays, guesthouse are advised to check in their guests using the Meghalaya Tourism Application.
