No more Compulsory COVID-19 tests for tourists to Meghalaya

The government of Meghalaya hosted a special meeting to discuss the current COVID-19 situation in the state. One of the key decisions was to stop the compulsory COVID-19 tests for the people with all doses of any registered vaccine. This high level meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister of the state and several other dignitaries were present.

The following are some of the key decisions taken during this meeting. And these decisions will come to effect from the 11th of February.

  • All people who have taken both doses of any registered COVID-19 vaccine will no longer need to take RT-PCR tests at the entry points of the state.
  • All the schools in the state wil work in full capacity from the next Monday, that is the 14th of February. However the schools in the city of Shillong will open only for the classes one to five.
  • Night curfew will no longer be active once this order comes into effect.
  • Only double vaccinated people will be allowed to enter public places like cinema halls, malls, bars and restaurants etc.
  • Odd and even rule will still continue to be in place till any further orders.
  • Prior permissions are no more required for funeral services in the state.

The previous list of standard operating procedures made these tests compulsory for anyone who enters the state.
