3rd Folk Tea Festival in Biswanath from November 24

The organisers have announced that the 3rd Folk Tea Festival will be organised from November 24. This year’s event will be hosted with a three-day schedule across the 24th, 25th and 26th of November at the Hatipoti Tea Estate. Also, noted singer and music composer Joi Barua will be inaugurating this edition of the festival. 

This year’s event will be undertaken from 24 to 26 November amidst lush green tea gardens in Pabhoi near Biswanath town with a very vibrant agenda. The inaugural event will take place on November 24 at 3 PM. And noted singer and composer Joi Barua will be cutting the ribbon.

What to expect at the 3rd Folk Tea Festival

The organisers mentioned that the key idea behind organising this event is the promotion of Rural Tourism. They also said that the festival aims to promote local traditions and present the folk culture of the state. And with an attempt to promote the local culture and tradition, the organisers had started this event in 2021. The 3rd Folk Tea Festival will also include adventure sports. 

Apart from these events, a photography exhibition commemorating the completion of 200 years by the Assamese Tea Industry will also be organised. This exhibition in the 3rd Folk Tea Festival aims to shed light on the rich heritage of the two-century-long industry. As well as showcase the 200-year-long history of the state in terms of the tea industry. The organisers mentioned that this would be the first-ever exhibition in the country in those lines organised inside a tea garden.

Students of the Government College of Art & Crafts, Assam in Guwahati will also showcase their creativity in this event. Four Astrophysicists from Guwahati will also undertake a session on the sky and celestial bodies. A documentary on the tea garden life created by noted filmmaker Samujjal Kashyap will also be screened.

Chef Atul Lahkar will undertake a session on the lost culinary arts of the region on the second day of the event. Tea garden tours and tea leaf-picking sessions will also be a part of the event. Cultural presentations are on the schedule for the afternoons for the days of the festival. Traditional Jhumur and Bhaona are also a part of the three-day event.
