Meghalaya Issues Revised Protocols for Entry Points

The Meghalaya state government on Wednesday issued revised protocols for people entering the state in super-session of the earlier one.

According to the official notification, it is mandatory for all entering the state to register themselves prior to their travel and to download the Arogya setu app and the behavioral change management app of Meghalaya.

Key points in the new SOP by Meghalaya.

  • RT-PCR testing at the entry points have been made mandatory for all persons visiting the state irrespective of any other COVID negative reports.
  • Samples for RT-PCR test will be taken at the entry point on payment basis. Regardless of the test results, the person will have to undergo either home or paid quarantine for 7 days.
  • People exiting state the same day shall also be tested for RT-PCR and the result shall be communicated to them. On entry, they shall strictly confine to their place of work and and exit on the same day.
  • People who have a valid final certificate of vaccination shall be exempted from testing at the time of entry.
  • Government officials, technical staff and logistics experts who are engaged to perform duties duties related to health, telecommunication or other agencies services to the state certified by the home department shall also be exempted from testing.
  • However, if a person shows any symptoms on arrival at the entry point shall be mandatorily tested by RT-PCR.
  • The state government urged the people to monitor their health for 10 days from the date of entry into the state.
  • Meghalaya extended the ongoing lockdown in the state to June 14 amid the rise in the number if COVID-19 cases. The state currently has 4849 active cases of COVID-19 while the death tally has reached up-to 710.
