Assam Governor inaugurates Rath Yatra in North Guwahati

Hare Krishna Mandir North Guwahati hosted Rath Yatra 2023 in a majestic way. The temple authorities organized the event for the 10th time this year. Hundreds of people from all walks of life participated in the event. Assam Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria took part in the celebrations. He flagged off the main event at the temple complex in the afternoon. The Rath Yatra started at the Hare Krishna Mandir and came to an end at the Durga Mandir in Mandhyam Khanda.

This year saw the 10th edition of Rath Yatra organised by the Hare Krishna Mandir North Guwahati. It showcased a grand procession to commemorate the annual chariot festival. Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra sit on their beautifully decorated chariots. And the devotees drag these raths or chariots along a predefined route.   

The Assam Governor expressed his appreciation towards the Hare Krishna Mandir. Accepting his blessings, the government official also thanked the organizers for conducting the Rath Yatra. In his speech, the Assam Governor emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the ancient customs and spiritual heritage. He also called these ancient traditions the binding energy for the community.

A beautifully decorated elephant was at the lead of the procession. It added grandeur and the elegance to the Rath Yatra. The Raths were meticulously designed and constructed by the skilled artisans. And these raths were able to able to capture the attention of the public as they moved through the street. Devotees were busy chanting devotional hymns as they moved alongside the chariots.  Some participants also played traditional instruments in rhythmic beats. The Hare Krishna Mahamantra was also being chanted continuously by the devotees present for the event.

A prasad distribution was carried out during the event. Devotees also presented a cultural show during the event.
