Shillong Lajong FC suffers second loss in the 132nd Durand Cup

The popular football club from Meghalaya, the Shillong Lajong FC played their second match of the Durand Cup. This match was held on the afternoon of Tuesday at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati. And they came face to face with FC Goa in this match and it resulted in a 6:0 loss. 

But like their first match against Northeast United FC, Shillong Lajong lost their second match as well. This was the first match of the tournament for the FC Goa team. And they managed to bag a massive 6:0 win in their first match. Noah Sadaoui’s hat trick ensured that FC Goa sail towards a comfortable win. While showcasing them as a formidable team in the tournament. He scored his three goals in the 20th, 26th and 86th minutes of the match. 

Rowllin Borges was able to score the opening goal of the match in the 15th minute. Victor Rodriguez opened the scoreboard in the second half in the 68th minute. Carlos Martinez scored the 6th and final goal of the match in the 83rd minute to ensure the 6:0 win.

Meanwhile, with the loss of two out of three matches at the group stage, Shillong Lajong is at the bottom of Group D.  Northeast United FC and FC Goa each have one match to their name. The fourth team of the group, Downtown Heros FC from Srinagar have not played a match yet. 

Meanwhile, Indian Army FT defeated Odisha FC in the second match in Kokrajhar. Liton Shil from Indian Army Football Team was able to score the only goal of the match. He scored this match in the 42nd minute of the tournament. Both the teams looked evenly matched with each fighting to score against the other during this face-off.
