Assam Tourism Minister Flags Off New Flight Services

The state of Assam and the entire northeast India is working towards achieving better connectivity. And one of the most important needs of the day is air connectivity between different parts of the state. As a step towards the same goal, the Tourism Minister of the state today flagged off flight services between Guwahati, Silchar and Dibrugarh to be operated by FlyBig Airlines.

Jayanta Malla Baruah flagged off the first flight from Guwahati airport today. The flight had 65 passengers on board out of the total capacity of 72. The Guwahati Dibrugarh Guwahati flights started today. While the regular flights on the Guwahati Silchar Guwahati route will start from the 15th of this month.

As per the agreements, Flybig will operate these flights on the Non-UDAN routes. As of now, the Guwahati to Dibrugarh Flight will leave at 9:35 AM. And the Dibrugarh to Guwahati flight is scheduled at 3:10 PM everyday.

Assam Tourism Development Corporation will support these flight services through Viability Gap Funding for both the routes as per the mutual agreement. The tourism minister called it a very significant day for the tourism sector of the state. He also mentioned that this service will also help the local people. The flight service will drastically decrease the travel time between the cities. People will be able to complete their task within the stipulated time and reduce the need of long travel hours.

Several dignitaries from both the tourism department as well as the airline were present for the event.
