Tripura all set to procure Houseboats from Kerela

The Tourism Department of the Northeastern state of Tripura is going to procure houseboats from the state of Kerela. These houseboats will be put to use to increase the tourism potential of Tripura.

These boats will be made available in the in the Dumboor lake of the state. Which is a beautiful water body located about 120 kilometres away from the state capital Agartala. The name comes from the fact that this lake is shaped in the likes of the drum Lord Shiva is said to carry. Its size is about 41 square kilometres with about 100 small and large islands. This wetland is a perfect destination for birds, specially the migratory ones. Thus making the lake a favorite tourist destination for travelers from across the globe. This lake is located on the confluence of the rives Raima and Saima. It is also the home to the famous Posh Sankaranti Mela, which is held on the 14th of January every year.

These new houseboats will be equipped all necessary amenities for the tourists coming to the region. Comfortable and exotic overnight stays are the specialty of these boats. Washrooms, cooking facilities and first aid kids are also present in the ones serving in the backwaters of Kerela.
