Sapling Plantation carried out by BJYM on Environment Day

Members of the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) carried out a sapling plantation drive in several parts of the city of Guwahati on the occasion of the World Environment Day 2022.

In accordance to this theme, volunteers and members of the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) carried out a plantation drive. Several saplings were planted across the city at locations including the BJP office in Hengrabari, Sudershanalay and Mother’s Old Age Home.

The team planted around fifty saplings in today’s plantation drive and they distributed many more. These saplings included trees like neem, tamarind, guava, litchi, Indian olives and Spanish cherry. Flowering plants like oleander and crape jasmine were also part of the activity. These plantation will help in making the city greener and more beautiful mentioned a member.

Unplanned development is one of the major areas of concern in the modern day. With the theme of Only One Earth , this year’s World Environment aims to protect the planet. Only proper planning about all construction activities as well as prevention of any further deforestation are key areas. Afforestation is one of the very important part of this year’s theme.

Another organisation named The FERNS Society carried out a similar campaign in the Adingiri region of the city.
