Falcon Festival 2026: Amur Falcons, Music, Culture and More

Guwahati, October 4, 2026: The hills of Dima Hasao are set to come alive in December as the Falcon Festival 2026 returns to Umrangso, bringing together music, indigenous culture, nature and wildlife conservation.

According to Assam Tourism, the three-day festival will be held from December 11 to 13 at the Umrangso Golf Field in Dima Hasao. The festival celebrates the annual migration of the Amur Falcon, one of the world’s remarkable long-distance migratory birds.

The event has grown into an important cultural and tourism attraction in the region. Along with music performances, visitors can expect tribal cultural programmes, local food, environmental activities and community-led conservation initiatives.

The 2026 artist lineup is yet to be officially announced. The festival has, however, established a reputation for bringing prominent names from the Indian music scene to Umrangso. The 2025 edition featured singers Vishal Mishra, Shilpa Rao and Nikhita Gandhi across its three evenings.

The festival’s focus extends beyond entertainment. Amur Falcons visit Northeast India during their annual migration, with October and November being particularly important for observing the birds. The festival uses music and cultural activities to strengthen awareness about protecting the migratory species and its habitats.

How to reach Umrangso

Umrangso can be reached by road from Haflong, the headquarters of Dima Hasao district. Travellers can take trains to New Haflong and continue by road. Another option is to travel via Silchar, one of the nearest major airports, and proceed to Umrangso by road.

For visitors travelling from Guwahati, road travel is the most convenient option. The journey generally takes several hours through the Nagaon-Lanka route, depending on road and traffic conditions.

With its combination of live music, indigenous culture, scenic hills and a strong conservation message, the Falcon Festival 2026 is expected to be one of Assam’s notable December attractions.
