Ganesh Puja is a every important celebration in different parts of the country. It is the main festival in the West Indian state of Maharastra. In the east and northeast region of the country, it marks the beginning of the annual puja calendar.

Amingaon

One of the main entries to the city of Guwahati involved crossing the mighty Brahmaputra river. And this Ganesha temple stands as a guardian deity for all those who want to cross, on the northern bank of the river.

Khanapara

Similar to the one in Amingaon, the Ganesha temple in Khanapara stands guard to another doorway to the city of Guwahati. This one is not via water, but through the treacherous hills of Meghalaya.

Ganeshguri

One of the most famous temples of the city is located in its heart, near the state secretariat. This one gets one of the highest number of devotees every year during any festival or new year.

Latasil

Sandwiched between the Guwahati Planetarium and the new building of the Gauhati High Court is the Latasil Ganesh Mandir. Another well maintained temple of the city which attracts huge crowds during the festivals.

Nilachal Hills

Another important Ganesha Temple of the city is located on the way to the Kamakhya Temple of the city. It is custom to first bow one’s head at this temple before visiting the Mother Goddess.

Lal Ganesh

This is another region of the city named after the deity. This is another important Ganesha temple located at a key junction of the city.
