Lokmanthan 2022 is an event curated to showcase the traditions and culture of the Northeastern region of India. The four day event will start from the 21st of September and ends on the 23rd of September in Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. This is the third version of Lokmanthan and this year’s theme is Lokparampara.

The cultural programs will be flagged off in the evening of the 21st of Sepember with Minister of Industries & Commerce and Public Enterprise, Bimal Bora. The formal inauguration will however be conducted on the morning of 22nd September. The Chief Guest for the occasion is Jagdeep Dhankhar, the Vice President of India. Jagdish Mukhi, Governor, Assam and Nagaland and Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam will also include the inauguration.

Artists from all over the region will take part and showcase their culture during the four day extravaganza. Lokmanthan 2022 will have music, dance and other traditional art forms on display. Wangala of Meghalaya, Cheraw of Mizoram, Xattriya & Bihu of Assam, Hojagiri of Tripura, Ao Warrior dance of Nagaland, Yak & Chinghi Chaam of Arunachal Pradesh, Dhol Chalam and Thangta of Manipur will be some of the performances.

Apart from performances, there will also be several discussions on topics related to culture, faith, folklore and related ideas. Age old traditions of the region will also be showcased in the event through an art exhibition.
