Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to visit the Baghjan fire site on Sunday along with Union Petroleum And Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The duo will be visiting the site to inspect the operations being carried out at the site.
Both the Ministers had a meeting on Saturday evening regarding the Baghjan gas leak. State Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary was also present.
Earlier Sonowal had taken stock of the situation and assured OIL to provide all necessary help and assistance from state authorities.
A massive fire broke out in the Baghjan Oil field of Tinsukia district in Assam on Tuesday. The oil well that blasted has been spewing gas since a blowout on May 27. Bodies of two firefighters of Oil India Ltd (OIL), who went missing after the incident, were recovered on Wednesday from a pond near the Baghjan fire site by an NDRF team.
Post the inferno, Oil India Limited (OIL) has been taking several measures to allay further damage and work on restoration of the site.
“Activities at Well Site and Riverbank in progress. Preliminary work of arranging facilities for well control operation began”, stated OIL.
