Sikkim issues new Steps to contain COVID-19

The government of Sikkim has issued a new list of steps to contain the COVID-19 from spreading even further. These steps come to effect from the 28th of June.

The following are the key points in the new list of standard operating procedures.

  1. Inter-district movement of all vehicles including two-wheelers, will be allowed on odd-even basis. The odd-even arrangement is explained as follows.
    • Vehicles bearing registration number ending with odd digit shall be allowed to ply on days having odd dates of the calendar.
    • Vehicles bearing registration number ending with even digit shall be allowed to ply on days having even dates.
  2. All restaurants will be allowed to operate up to 10.00 PM with 50% seating capacity, duly following all Covid-19 protocols. The curfew time will start from 10.30 PM till 6.00 AM every day.

This order is issued for strict implementation and compliance within the State of Sikkim with effect from the 28th of June and till the morning of the 05th of July with the approval of the Chairperson, State Executive Committee in exercise of powers conferred under Section 22(2)(h) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

These relaxations are issued keeping in mind the decrease of the COVID positive cases in the state.
