In a bid to increase the inbound tourists from both the domestic and international arena, Assam Tourism has shared details about lesser known tourism destinations of the state on their social media handles.
The main idea behind this campaign is to enlist new destinations for the tourists to explore. People can explore these destinations virtually through the social media handles. The posts also include necessary details like core attractions of the destination. Details regarding how to reach that destination are also being included. Thus helping travelers to plan their trips accordingly.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has created problems for each and everyone in this world. But the tourism sector along with its allied services had to bear the blunt of the hit. With all travel being suspended twice for long duration, everyone had to face huge loses and many businesses had to shut shop for good. This campaign aims to boost the tourism scenario in the state.
COVID-19 related travel restrictions are quite lenient in the state of Assam. People with all doses of corona vaccine can enter without test reports. Also curfew hours are now from 9 PM to 5 AM, making day travel very easy. Even local and inter district transportation are now operating at capacity. The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has hinted at even lesser restrictions in the coming month.
A digital campaign to explore and showcase possible new destinations for tourists coming to Assam was stated last year. This campaign was flagged of by the then chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation, Jayanta Malla Baruah. And involved the curation of beautiful video content of new destinations and sharing them over different social media platforms.
