When we speak about Haflong, the first destination that comes to our mind is Jatinga. The mysterious village which is regarded as the death valley for birds. Over the last 100 years, thousands of birds have flown to their death over a small strip of land in Jatinga. This mysterious phenomenon takes place usually in the months of September to October, mostly on ghastly moonless nights. Strangely becoming disoriented, the birds plunge head first toward the torches and lights. This bizarre Bermuda Triangle of fowl death remains largely unexplained, despite studies by India’s most prestigious ornithologists.
