IndiGo Crew Grounded After Passenger Tested Positive

A passenger travelling on a IndiGo flight from Chennai to Coimbatore on Monday tested positive for COVID – 19 on arrival.

The passenger had boarded the Indigo flight 6E-381 and is currently quarantined at ESI state medical facility at Coimbatore.

In a statement, IndiGo said: “We received confirmation from the Coimbatore airport doctor that a passenger who traveled on 6E 381 from Chennai to Coimbatore on Monday (May 25) evening, has tested positive for COVID-19. He is currently quarantined at ESI state medical facility at Coimbatore. He was seated on-board the aircraft with all precautionary measures including face mask, face shield and gloves, as were the other passengers. Additionally, no one else was seated in his vicinity, significantly reducing the possibility of transmission”, reported TOI.

As per sources, the IndiGo crew has been grounded for 14 days. The airline service has also notified the passengers who were on the flight.

All the other passengers, who were on the same flight, have tested negative for the virus. Yet, they have been instructed 14 days of home quarantine by the district administration. They have also been advised to contact the health department in case they develop any symptoms.

There were more than 100 passengers on the flight. According to a report, the airlines confirmed that no one was seated within the vicinity of the infected passenger.
